IMPORTANT
It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure the firearm to be transferred is legal for you to possess in the State of Connecticut. If the firearm is a “Pre-Ban” it must be recognized as such by the State of Connecticut. A letter signed by the manufacturer or original purchase invoice showing the firearm/receiver was manufactured before September 13, 1994, can be used.
We are not accountable or responsible for an individual receiving a firearm that they cannot legally possess in Connecticut due to state or federal laws/regulations.
Please ensure you can legally possess the firearm in question.
If you cannot legally take possession of a firearm you purchased, we can ship the firearm back to the sender for a fee, or we can consign the firearm and sell it to an eligible individual.
We also cannot transfer any high capacity magazines that come with any firearms unless you fall under the Military or Law Enforcement Officer exemption. Please communicate with the shipper prior to having the firearm shipped to verify any magazines included are 10 rounds or less.
Currently, we do not offer any modifications or gunsmithing services to alter any firearm or magazines to legalize their possession.
How to Have a Firearm Transferred to Connecticut
After your purchase is complete, notify that business or individual that you will be using Brown Dog Tactical in Southington, CT as your FFL. The FFL shipping the firearm will need a copy of Brown Dog Tactical’s FFL and can receive one by emailing d.posadas@browndogtactical.com. This email should include a detailed description of the item being shipped and your information as the buyer. We only give our FFL to other FFL’s and not individuals.
-Sender must include a copy of their FFL with the firearm being shipped. They must also include the buyer’s full name and contact information.
-If the sender can legally ship the firearm on their own, (some Gunbroker purchases) they sender must include a copy of their State Driver’s License with the shipment.
-If one of the above items is not included in the shipment, the firearm will not be transferred until we receive the required documentation.
-Please provide any tracking information you receive from the seller and we will contact you when the firearm is received to set up an appointment to complete the transfer. We are a home-based FFL and only do transfers by appointment. We will do everything to schedule the transfer as soon as possible after the firearm is received.
